Όταν ήταν στο θρόνο του είχε τον έλεγχο των πάντων, καθόριζε τύχες, αλλοίωνε συνειδήσεις, άλλαζε την καθημερινότητα. Κλωθογύριζε γύρω από τον εαυτό του σαν τη μοναδική ύπαρξη που υπήρχε, οι άλλοι ήταν απλώς μια κάποια ενόχληση.

Τώρα, αδύναμος, ψάχνει το στέμμα του, το σύμβολο της κυριαρχίας του. Χωρίς αυτό είναι ένα τίποτα. Είχε στηρίξει όλο το είναι του σ' έναν εαυτό-βασιλιά, σ' έναν εαυτό-κέντρο του Σύμπαντος. Η πτώση ήταν τεράστια κι ο εαυτός του, πια, ένα πληγωμένο ζώο που προσπαθεί να κρυφτεί για να γλύψει τις πληγές του.

Ο μεγαλύτερος πόνος στο Σύμπαν είναι ο πληγωμένος εγωισμός.
