Kesultanan Demak atau Kerajaan Demak adalah kerajaan Islam pertama dan terbesar di pantai utara Jawa ("Pasisir"). Menurut tradisi Jawa, Demak sebelumnya merupakan kadipaten dari kerajaan Majapahit, kemudian muncul sebagai kekuatan baru mewarisi legitimasi dari kebesaran Majapahit.
Kerajaan ini tercatat menjadi pelopor penyebaran agama Islam di pulau Jawa dan Indonesia pada umumnya. Walau tidak berumur panjang dan segera mengalami kemunduran karena terjadi perebutan kekuasaan di antara kerabat kerajaan. Pada tahun 1568, kekuasaan Demak beralih ke Kerajaan Pajang yang didirikan oleh Jaka Tingkir. Salah satu peninggalan bersejarah Kerajaan Demak ialah Mesjid Agung Demak, yang menurut tradisi didirikan oleh Walisongo.

Prabu Brawijaya (lahir: ? - wafat: 1478) atau kadang disebut Brawijaya V adalah raja terakhir Kerajaan Majapahit versi naskah-naskah babad dan serat, yang memerintah sampai tahun 1478. Tokoh ini diperkirakan sebagai tokoh fiksi namun sangat legendaris. Ia sering dianggap sama dengan Bhre Kertabhumi, yaitu nama yang ditemukan dalam penutupan naskah Pararaton. Namun pendapat lain mengatakan bahwa Brawijaya cenderung identik dengan Dyah Ranawijaya, yaitu tokoh yang pada tahun 1486 mengaku sebagai penguasa Majapahit, Janggala, dan Kadiri, setelah berhasil menaklukan Bhre Kertabhumi.

Rupanya Baginda telah merasa, bahwa waktu bagi Baginda pun telah dekat. Untuk mengganti. Arya Bangah, maka diperintahkan kepada R. Panular untuk membawa R. Kebobang ke Pejajaran dan melantiknya jadi adipati, tetapi dengan perintah setiap tahun menghadap ke Majapahit. Hal itu telah terlaksana dengan lancar. R. Kebobang telah terlantik, R. Panular telah kembali ke Majapahit membawa segala pusaka keraton Pejajaran.

Saat kerajaan Majapahit runtuh, Majapahit dipimpin oleh Prabu Brawijaya V. Pada masa pemerintahannya sering terjadi pemberontakan dan kekacauan yg ingin menjatuhkan kekuasaannya. Keadaan Majapahit pun rawan disintegrasi karena para pangeran dan elit politik saling sikut, saling curiga dan saling menjatuhkan…. hehe… jadi ingat masa sekarang????
