The Most Effective Stress Management Tips

The Most Effective Stress Management Tips… Ever!

Stress management is essential to happiness!Stress management is a hot topic these days, with good reason; even if you’re totally overwhelmed and you can’t seem to be able to juggle all of life’s demands, you can take steps starting right now to change the way you see and think to permanently give you control of your stress response. Many stress management techniques focus on making you feel better – which is great – but to live a stress-free life, you’ll need to make some in the way you think.

Start with making a list of things that cause you stress: too many activities into your day? Finances, health and relationship issues? Do you feel that you’re not in control of your life or you’re not on the right path for personal fulfillment and happiness? Even the smaller things like keeping up with the dishes and unfinished tasks can cause stress. If you start making a list and you feel stressed about how much you have to be stressed about (including making lists!), keep going with this so you can identify where changes need to be made.

Once you’ve got your list in front of you, pick the ones that cause you the most stress. Address those first by applying the following stress management tips (you can work on the smaller stuff later, and you may even find that it works itself out in the process!):

The Best Stress-Busting Tips

Take control of your life experience with the Silva Method
1. Be grateful for what is. Choose whatever causes you the most stress and change the way you see and think about it. For example, if finances are stressing you out, NO amount of feel-good or escapist activity is going to make the underlying issue go away for long. It’s something that must be dealt with mentally to have peace! After you’ve cut your expenses and you’re still wondering how it’s all going to work out…start by being thankful.
This takes practice because you may be used to focusing what is NOT there – what you don’t have. To de-stress, shift focusing on and appreciating what IS there.
  • Be happy for the struggles because they are great teachers.
  • Be satisfied with what you have. Be a person whose life is rich in relationships and not material things.
  • Simplify and get rid of anything that doesn’t bring you joy or has outlived its usefulness.
2. Change the plan. If you think everything will go wrong when you travel, travel will stress you out. If you think about losing weight, you will be stressed about having a hard time staying at your ideal weight because your focus isn’t on your ideal weight, it’s on getting there.
Instead of focusing on what you don’t want, focus on what you want, even if things aren’t going according to plan at the moment; they ARE – they are going according to the plan you put in place previously! This is not wishful thinking, it’s a matter of placing the right commands into your subconscious and letting it alert you to the situations and resources to make your imagination real. You can learn to do this successfully in the Silva Method’s mind control exercises that effectively direct your mind in the direction you want it to go.
You are not avoiding problems, you are learning to direct your focus to finding solutions. If you focus on what you want,  you’ll notice what you didn’t notice before and you’ll feel a strong urge to take action on what you’ve noticed. This will give you the results you want instead of stressing about never reaching your goals!

3. Choose your experience. The truth is, you decide what experience to have. If you get caught in a freezing rain on a hike and you’re not dressed for it, you can either come away from the situation having had a survival adventure or having had a miserable wet time. Choosing your experience may be another new concept but if you’re aware that you CAN choose, you can experience far less stress than someone who believes that the situation dictates the experience. Experience is an event, as interpreted by you.

Choose a more desirable experience.4. Take action. Procrastination is a common way of dealing with things people want to avoid – things that cause stress but only action will make you feel good and at least somewhat in control of the situation (you may not be able to control the whole situation but you can always control your end of things!) Going back to the example of being stressed about finances, what is one thing you can do right this minute to get at least one little monkey off your back? Is it a bill that you can’t pay? Pay half. Even a tenth! A good-will gesture goes a long way to taking care of the problem AND making you feel calmer and happier! And if you can’t pay, call the company, speak to a real person and explain the situation. Many companies are willing to help but only if you ask.

Meditation teaches mental discipline necessary to manage stress.5. Meditation is essential for teaching you the mental discipline necessary to be grateful in times of struggle; to focus on what you want; to choose your experience; and to take action. It’s not necessary to meditate for extended periods of time to gain these benefits. Use the powerful deepening exercises in the Silva Method to quickly relax into meditation, focus your mind and maintain focus. It only takes a few minutes every day and you will see results very quickly!

6. Smile. Get in the habit of smiling more. You’ll automatically feel better and you’ll attract good people and situations with your happier ‘vibe’.

Control Your Thoughts, Control Your Stress

Stress really is “all in your head.” It’s how you look at a situation and how you choose to interpret it (curse, or blessing?) that can let you step back from the emotional response and see the benefits in a situation. And when you combine that ability with mental discipline and taking action, stress won’t rule your life anymore!
